A continual up and down along the ridge of the Romagna-Marches boundary hills. It isn’t a very long stretch - about a hundred kilometres – but it requires commitment and skill with the bike. As is normal for the courses around here, there’s a bit of everything: bends, climbs, descents, all that’s lacking is the flat, which may displease long-distance racers and high gear enthusiasts.

A hop in view of Montescudo
After about 20 kilometres from the start there’s a hop in view of Montescudo: 2 kilometres with an average gradient of 10%.
The village stands on a high rise of Valconca, at the boundary with San Marino. Near Montescudo you get to Gemmano with the nature reserve of Onferno.

Last effort at Monte Altavellio
You come down from Montescudo into The Marches territory and there’s immediately another climb, taking you to Sassofeltrio. About three kilometres with a gradient between 8 and 10%. More bends, more slopes, more hill scenery and then you see Montelicciano, which is followed by the ascent of Montegrimano that hits your already well-tested muscles.
From Montelicciano there are at last seven kilometres of descent, a blessing. Then the final effort of Monte Altavellio (475 metres), a fairly long climb with gradients up to about 10%.

The green pearl of the Adriatic
Having overcome Monte Altavellio you at last go down in the direction of Tavoleto which marks the return to Romagna and gives an attractive view of the rocky spur on which Montefiore stands.
Then a tranquil return to base, passing by Morciano di Romagna and San Giovanni in Marignano. Now you can see the sea and the skyline of Riccione, the green pearl of the Adriatic.
