Theatres, masks and performances in the ancient world. This is the first exhibition of this kind in Northern Italy. Ancient theatre will be revealed through the splendid remains, mostly from the Roman period, from the area of Vesuvius and kept in the collections of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and in the museums of Emilia-Romagna.
The displays have many surprises in store: visitors will be able to enter the workshop of an artisan of Pompei and examine at close range a group of fifteen masks from 2000 years ago which were probably models used to produce the masks actually used by the actors. Then it will be possible to enter an area set up as a real theatre and watch theatrical performances.
